A. How accurate is Hollywood
1. Show clips from three movies Gladiator, Braveheart, and Elizabeth
2. True or False Quiz on Gladiator, Braveheart, and Elizabeth
B. Discuss the idea that Hollywood is only entertainment and while some facts may be accurate, you can not trust action as true.

C. The students have a writing assignment for every movie we watch. Surprisingly I hear almost no complaints, can you imagine, students writing about history without complaining?

D. Students also have a mid-term and a final exam. Additionally, they must complete a research project or multimedia presentation on one of the movies they have seen. There are several components of the research assignment that was created by Jackie and I which are listed below:
1. Submit a resaerch proposal
2. Students are required to use two sources from the visible web, two from the invisible web and two from metasearch engines.
3. Virtual Index Cards
4. Outline in Inspiration
5. Research or multimedia presentation
6. Multimedia presentaions are guided by the visual literacy principles.
7. Students must also hand in the homepage of their blogs. At the end of each class the students use to work on their research projects they use their blogs as a reflection of their work and what they have learned. Their blogs work as an online learning journal that they keep in both their Freshman Writing Seminar Class and their History vs. Hollywood class.
